The Alexandra is the fuller of the two Onua vessels, hand-formed in stoneware with a rounded body drawn from the feminine figurative tradition of Akan sculpture. The contoured profile and central taper require a higher degree of precision in shaping.
Sea Sand is the rarest of the collection’s clay bodies, formed from a single clay sourced from a distinct deposit and used only for this colourway. The clay is light in mineral content, naturally pale, and requires slower forming and firing to hold its structure, which gives the finished piece its soft cream tone and the quiet surface variation across the body. The exterior is left matte; the interior is finished with a clear glaze, leaving a smooth, reflective surface against the raw clay outside.
Each piece has natural variations in tone, texture, and form inherent to the process
