Vume, in Ghana’s Volta Region, has been a centre for pottery for over 300 years. The clay is locally abundant and the techniques have been passed through generations of makers, still closely tied to the everyday vessels used in homes.

This tapered vase is shaped on a manual wheel using a two-person process, where one maker turns the wheel by hand while the other shapes the clay. It is formed from iron-rich Vume clay and wood-fired, giving the surface its natural terracotta tone along with the variation and markings left by the kiln

Not watertight — suitable for standalone display or for use with dried florals, stems or branches.
