Coastal Trio is a set of three hand-formed earthenware bowls by the late Ghanaian ceramicist and educator Michael Kweku Acheampong Afrifa. Based in Winneba on Ghana’s Atlantic coast, Acheampong taught generations of apprentices and spent his career developing ceramics practice in Ghana.
Each bowl is hand-formed from clay dug by Acheampong and his apprentices from the coastal ground around Winneba. The three share an earthy palette but differ in finish: the first two have a coarse, gritty surface that echoes the granite outcrops and sandy coastal plains around the town, while the third has a softer satin finish, shifting between muted green, bronze and deep brown.
For decorative use only — not food safe. Best suited to display as a sculptural grouping, or individually as a vide-poche on a console or bedside table.
