The Alexandra is the fuller of the two Onua vessels, hand-formed in stoneware with a rounded body drawn from the feminine figurative tradition of Akan sculpture. The contoured profile and central taper require a higher degree of precision in shaping.
Sahel is one of the collection’s pigmented clay bodies, coloured throughout with iron oxides blended into the clay. The result is a sun-warmed terracotta tone drawn from the iron-rich soils of the West African Sahel landscape. The interior is finished with a clear glaze, leaving a smooth, reflective surface against the raw clay outside.
Each piece has natural variations in tone, texture, and form inherent to the process.
